The Village of Castleton-on-Hudson is located in southern Rensselaer County in the beautiful Hudson Valley of upstate New York. It is a residential community located on the east shore of the Hudson River about 15 miles south of the Capital District, yet it maintains the serenity of an upstate rural town.
Castleton is about 2 square miles in area, and has a population of about 1,600 persons and about 500 households. The average size of households is 2.5, the median value of owner-occuppied homes is $98,900, and the median household income is $44,141. The Village offers refuse removal, sewerage, and village water. The village sponsors the Castleton Kids Program, a non-profit school aged child care program, and the Castleton Youth Commission which provides programs for the youth of the community.
